GODZILLA 2014 BOX OFFICE THREAD

Update:

Update from the Box Office comes storming in, Domestically, GODZILLA has steamed at a scorching $199,704,025! Last update I had estimated that
the film would gross between 400-500,000 over the weekend. A pull that comes from being settled in secondary theaters. However, it's still a great
pull for what it's worth.

With this, GODZILLA has a roaring shot at 200 million, all he needs to pull is slightly less than 300,000 at the box office over this week before nuking the big finish. Last week Godzilla was able to make 300,000+, so it's highly possible those numbers will stomp once more. Potentially it could stomp a bit higher due to the announcement of the sequel confirmation at Comic Con last week. Either way, expect Godzilla to join the 200 million group this week.

Japan will no doubt continue to see Godzilla, allowing for a big finish internationally, it's safe to assume that Godzilla will have a finish larger than Pacific Rim. Hopefully the run remains strong and doesn't drop too much.

Box Office Update:

$56,621 was Monday's take into the Box Office, rounding domestics to $199,760,646. No doubt with GODZILLA's run hitting close to its limit, the movie's profit intake will be dwindled to a certain extent.

If anything is clear it'll be that potentially while GODZILLA will nuke the 200 million line. It probably won't stomp across the line until this weekend's run. At the earliest, Friday is when the movie makes the big cross. At the latest? Monday. It's not going to be a quick endgame, although with any luck given GODZILLA 2's Announcement, and the confirmation of Toho Monsters, hopefully that will push the film along with a bit more steam.

Box Office Update inbound,

Well folks, this is it, GODZILLA is storming across the big 200 million line this weekend,
today the kaiju king roared up the domestic box office to $199,922,103!!! All this week, Godzilla has been smashing up 50,000+ in the box office.
Storming full steam with what remaining strength it has left, GODZILLA will undoubtedly nuke the big $200,000,000! This weekend numbers will push
the film over the threshold, thus giving the movie a grand finish before the end of its run.

Internationally, in Japan, GODZILLA while having a strong opening as the number #1 movie of its weekend, has dropped down to number three to the likes of Disney's Maleficent. The estimated demographic audience of GODZILLA being mostly male and over the age of 40. An unfortunate detail, as it shows that the movie has yet to pull female audiences in Japan. Then again, Maleficent understandably has that power, and Disney remains a huge giant in the country. Furthered by the fact that Godzilla has been hibernating for 10 years, it's logical to gauge that the King has lost some tremendous steam in its home country after all this time. And having been recently revived, it's going to take some time before being able to draw back its titanic appeal full force.  

Numbers for this week and upcoming weekend will be pooled into the Box Office on Monday, so on the flipside of things, GODZILLA will be officially crossing over the $500,000,000 line! Any when that happens, it'll be news worth celebrating!!!

We've done it Godzilla fans! Domestically, GODZILLA has officially rampaged through the 200,000,000 mark! Nuking with a thunderous atomic hit of 200,100,000 million at the box office! A smashing success without a doubt! On the flipside of things, the film has grossed over 300,000,000 million internationally thanks to Japan! Officially crossing us over the big 500,000,000 mark!!!

It's been a long time coming, as expressed before, fans wanted this film to be a success, a success that one bring about a new era for the Godzilla franchise.
And as of today, we face that reality! The road was unsure, and no doubt, there were doubters who believed the film wouldn't even cross the marks that it destroyed today. But here we are, with our passion and support, and in the end, it has made GODZILLA 2014 a smashing success! And let's ride this out until the last roar!

Small Box Office Update:

GODZILLA crossing the big 500 Million threshold, and the long distant sight of 200 million domestically, was an aimed reality that all fans wanted the film to accomplish. And it has done just that!

Of course, that was Sunday's news, today I bring an updated version of it! Big thanks coming from Scifi-Japan!!!

Today, Toho sent Warner Bros. the official box office numbers for GODZILLA’s second weekend in Japan. The confirmed weekend results for GODZILLA came in higher than yesterday’s studio projections at ¥343.4 million (Approximately $3.4 million US). The estimated cume to date in Japan is now ¥1.557 billion (Approximately $15.3 million US).

Playing on 427 screens (the same screen number as opening weekend), GODZILLA’s ticket sales dropped 32% from last week — a percentage Warner Bros. described as “excellent”. The film finished at 2nd place for the weekend behind Warner Entertainment Japan’s RUROUNI KENSHIN: KYOTO INFERNO (るろうに剣心　京都大火編, Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Taika Hen) which opened to a stellar ¥822.7 million (Approximately $8.1 million US) on 438 screens. KYOTO INFERNO is a sequel to the hugely successful 2012 movie RUROUNI KENSHIN, and the opening weekend’s Sat/Sun results surpassed the first film by 48%.

With the final weekend numbers from Japan, GODZILLA’s international cume to date is $307.5 million, for a worldwide cume of $508 million.

In the United States, GODZILLA brought in $241,850 from 277 screens (down from 302 the week before). The domestic cume now stands at $200,163,953.

Domestically, GODZILLA is currently rampaging within his 11.4th week at the theaters, folks, domestically, movies only last for 14 weeks total, after that the show's over. So in the states, GODZILLA has slightly over 2 weeks left before swimming off into the sunset.

Internationally, Japan is the last territory of the film, and movies in their theaters are difficult to gauge in how long they last. If the movie is bad, than it will end quickly. If it's good, usually it lasts a few more weeks.

Toho is disturbing GODZILLA, so how long the film stays is most likely up to them since they are running the show there. Pacific Rim lasted for a whole month before being pulled. I can see GODZILLA last for maybe 2 extra weeks in Japan. The film has had a strong opening, and is continuing to pull in more profit. Even more so, the reception in Japan has been positive to mixed, so its strong grip on the box office should remain firm for a while.

Our time with the king will be coming to a close soon enough, and so will this adventure of ours together. Hard to believe that this was actually a dream made real, a new Godzilla movie, a new era. With the memory of GINO officially cleansed away. It's great to have the king back again.

Box Office Update!!!

Man, it has certainly been an extremely long time since I last updated this thread, with GODZILLA's run in theaters coming to a close, the atomic king is setting course towards numerous homes as the film prepares its Blu-Ray and DVD launch next month, and Digital Copies later on next week. A rampage that will no doubt drive up monstrous profit for the film!

But back to the Box Office, the last time this thread was updated, GODZILLA had finally nuked the big 200,000,000 domestic line, and the massive 500,000,000 International line. It was a huge milestone, and a grand success! Now, weeks later, we see how things have added up!

On the domestic front, the movie has roared a firm $200,597,134 take so far, with the movie being taken out more and more theaters as it storms its last weeks this is an expected profit estimate. I predict that the movie will making potentially 201+ million in its complete domestic run.

Internationally, from last weekend's take, GODZILLA has officially dethrone GINO in Japan's Box Office, now currently reigning as the highest grossing Godzilla film in Japan. GINO pulled 25.M, but G2014 has officially pulled in 25.5M! After this weekend, I expect the movie to potentially cross 30.M in Japan. Toho no doubt feels proud in this feat!

Internationally, the movie has settled at $307,300,000, which is quite confusing when you consider the fact that such a number hasn't increased over the past two weeks. Perhaps Box Office Mojo is just waiting until the end of its run. The movie's overall take is currently $507,897,134! Impressive! Although I'm certain this overall take will grow much larger once Japan's numbers are completely implemented. Well that's about it for this update, as I've said before, everything after the big milestone is just gravy. But I'll still cover everything until the very end!

FINAL BOX OFFICE UPDATE:



Well everyone, this is it, the Summer Movie season has officially ended. Along with it, GODZILLA roars its final hit within the Box Office. Here are the final numbers and the complete total:

Domestically, GODZILLA had smashed a mighty $200,676,069, the film really slowed down during its final run, but none the less it still managed to dominate the 200 million winner circle.

Foreign have finally added Japan's box office numbers, which I must note that, Gareth Edwards GODZILLA roared at $27,825,965! It was close to hitting the big 30, but faced stiff competition from other powerful franchise films, one of them being a children's franchise. So you can understand the fight it had to endure after its debut. However, for an icon breaking at the big 60 number and coming out of 10 years of dormancy, GODZILLA did extremely well!

In terms of total box office gross from the Foreign side, the king of monsters smashed a huge $324,300,000! Quite impressive!

The Worldwide Box Office total for GODZILLA nuked a grand finish of: $524,976,069!!!
Not only did us G-fans make Godzilla a grand success and revived him within the world of pop culture, but we restored balance from the disaster of 1998 as well!!! Be proud of yourselves G-fans, be proud, and ride out the remainder of 2014, Goji-style! We'll see you again soon Godzilla!!! 2018 isn't too far off!
